Knowledge and understanding
On completion of this qualification, you’ll have knowledge and understanding of:
- essential concepts, principles, theories, ethical frameworks, and current issues in biomedical sciences
- the structure and function of cells, tissues, organs, systems, and processes in the human body
- the human body in both health and disease, focusing on diagnostic techniques, including biochemistry, microbiology, haematology and histopathology.
Cognitive skills
On completion of this qualification, you’ll be able to:
- implement research strategies, develop and present reasoned arguments, and justify results
- to critically analyse information from different sources and recognise the potential uncertainty, ambiguity and limits of information and knowledge in biomedical sciences.

On completion of this qualification, you’ll be able to:
- conduct and report on scientific investigations or practical tasks using practical and professional skills such as personal responsibility, initiative, and applying appropriate ethical frameworks
