A range of data collection methods were used in order to evaluate the following areas:
1. e-feedback given by tutors

Analysis of all spoken and written feedback given by tutors on 200 OU assignments and 40 Manchester assignments, consisting of:

• electronic forms containing written feedback summaries
• audio files containing spoken feedback
• tutor’s annotations on written assignment scripts using Word markup
2. Attitudes, perceptions and preferences of tutors and students:

• Online questionnaire for OU students
• Online questionnaire for OU tutors
3. Student engagement with e-feedback

• Screencasts of OU students talking through the written feedback they received on one of their writing assignments
• Audio recordings of Manchester students giving each other peer feedback in small groups
