'...I should have thought that I acknowledged the “[Literary] Remains”, but I suppose I only intended to do it. I am, on the whole, greatly pleased with them. There is little in the book that is new to me. Some of the marginal notes can hardly be intelligible to any but those who are familiar with the books in which they were written, and a few contain opinions not strictly consonant with my father’s later judgement. But Henry [Nelson Coleridge] has performed a laborious task, with infinite care, industry and skilfulness. ...’
