'There is also a "Greek Literature" by Gilbert Murray, the bad verse-translator, which I have read with dire anger, as he degrades Homer from a poet into a "question" and prefers that snivelling metaphysician Euripides to Aeschylus.'

Additional Comments:
This book is discussed immediately after Andrew Lang's 'History of English Literature', which is described as on loan from the London Library. I think Murray's book may have come from the same source. I am fairly certain that the subscription would belong to Mr Kirkpatrick.
