Mr Ball kept a journal during the journey. 23 Aug 1838 - large meeting of ladies to form a society for visiting prisons of Aberdeen and vicinity: 'Between the formation of the association, and proceeding to select the various officers, Elizabeth Fry read a Psalm, spoke very nicely upon it to the ladies, and was then engaged in prayer'
